The Largo do Leão Building project is developed on a corner plot, occupying a strategic urban position with a direct frontage onto Largo do Leão and a strong visual relationship with Avenida Almirante Reis. The ensemble includes an 18th-century Pombaline building, classified as a Municipal Property of Interest, whose historical presence structures the intervention and guides the architectural approach.
The proposal combines the rehabilitation of the existing building with the construction of new residential volumes, seeking a balance between heritage enhancement and the consolidation of the surrounding urban fabric. The historic building is preserved and highlighted through its most relevant elements, while the new construction adopts a contemporary language of synthesis, capable of framing and completing the adjacent urban fabric. The ensemble results in a collective housing program with 36 residential units, organized around a large landscaped courtyard, promoting housing quality, urban continuity, and a balanced relationship between heritage and contemporaneity.
